I believe one of the problem areas for staffing is that PwC staff (especially junior level like Seniors or associates) generally have career interests and projects that they would like to work on with minimal visibility into active projects. There may be multiple sources to view or "follow" active projects (i.e. Salesforce) but not all in one consolidated space with necessary information needed to understand staffing needs or project descriptions. In order to further explain this let me use an example:
I am a senior associate rolling off a current project in the next 3 weeks. In order to proactively reach out and get myself staffed, I want to know what active projects or upcoming pipeline opportunities there are on the Microsoft account. I would like to see the various projects with a project title, short description of the current project (i.e. Pricing strategy engagement for Office 365 within Finance org), tentative dates, and contact information (i.e. engagement manager). I want to be able to pull "recent wins" AND "active projects".
This way, I am able to proactively reach out to managers on projects that I am interested in that may be in need for a senior associate. Even if there is an active project with no immediate need, I could "follow" it and tell the manager to keep me in mind in case there is a change or addition to scope.
I could say something like "Hey astro, show me recent Advisory wins on the microsoft account". Then, it would return the above information and I could reach out to the appropriate engagement manager.
Below are some additional potential astro requests:
"Show me current finance projects on the NBC UNIVERSAL account"
"Show me recent wins within TMT"
I think this would address some of the pain I have experienced with staffing. It would be a great way to encourage staff to be proactive about their staffing and network with engagement managers that are working on projects that they are interested in.
